Dear Friends & Families of the Scotts Valley Sports Center,
As you all are aware, The Scotts Valley Sports Center has been sold to the City of Scotts Valley. The City of Scotts Valley will be transforming the rink into a new library.
Although we love the rink, it is no longer financially possible for us to continue operating it. Over the past year , there has been a substantial drop off in our programs. We have seen fewer sign-ups for hockey leagues, a drop in attendance for classes, and a loss of hockey equipment sales. In the past, other sources of income have been enough to off-set a loss. But because of the state of the economy these sources are no longer reliable enough to sustain the business.
We would like to thank all who have supported the Scotts Valley Sports Center over the past eight years. We will continue in operation this summer with our existing hockey and soccer leagues, summer camps, and birthday parties.
The City of Scotts Valley knows how important the rink has been to hockey and soccer families and has said they are willing to work with a community group to relocate the existing dasher board system to a new site. We will be holding a meeting on Wednesday, June 10th at 7pm (at SVSC) for anyone who is interested in working on a new site for a skating rink. Come with your ideas and energy.
